Strathspey · D major
Calum's Road
Strathspey in D major, as printed in the band binder; no composer credit printed.
Sheet music transcribed by eye, unverified
Needs an ear. A model read the notes off the binder photo; nobody has played it back against the sheet yet. The chords are the ones printed on the sheet. Confidence: medium.
Transcriber's notes (which bars to listen to)
Bars 4 and 13 contain printed triplets (checked by hand: both add up). Page is a phone photo with perspective/curl; each staff was straightened and read against a computed pitch ruler, all bars legible. Doubtful points: (1) bar 2 beat 1 reads B(16th) d(dotted 8th) with no dot after the B, while bar 6 beat 1 is B(dotted 8th) d(16th) with the dot after the B -- transcribed as printed, but worth an ear check; (2) low B3 in 1st/2nd ending and bar 4 (ledger line) read as B below middle C; (3) bars 10 and 14 beat 2 read A(16th) E(dotted 8th). Printed: Part A = staves 1-2 with |: at start, |1 / :|2 endings, thin double bar at the end of stave 2. Part B = staves 3-4: NO opening repeat printed, closing :| at the end of stave 4; an opening |: was added at the start of stave 3 so the repeat plays correctly (not printed). Stave 2 first-ending bar and second-ending bar both counted in bar total (17 printed bars). Chord symbols as printed (D G A F#m Bm). Header text printed on the sheet: 'strathspey' (small, right). No credit printed. A faint show-through of the next tune (Captain Campbell) and the reverse page is visible behind the page; ignored. No handwritten marks on these two tunes.
Press play and the notes light up as they sound. Chord names above the staff are coloured by their root letter (the same colours as the song sheets). “Standard” and “Richer” are General-MIDI stand-ins hosted elsewhere; “Scruffy” is our own bank rendered from open sample sets (credits at /soundfont/scruffy-v1/CREDITS.md). Tempo slider is the “warp” control in the player.

How this setting was made. The notes and chord symbols are read from the band binder sheet (photo IMG_0317), by a model reading the photograph on 2026-10-27. The sheet's own chords are carried over unchanged. Nobody has yet played it back against the sheet: treat every note as a draft until it has been checked by ear.
